Melbourne West Halqa was established in 2012. It includes not only western suburbs but also the north region of Melbourne.

The unit covers areas from Werribee and goes through Footscray up to Craigieburn.

Initially, the unit had been established to serve the Muslim Community in and around Footscray. However, Due to the growing Muslim Community in the Western suburbs of Werribee, Hopper crossings, Tarneit and northern suburbs of Craigieburn and Fawkner, the Halqa boundary was extended to include these areas.
