Public Statement: Addressing Misleading Allegations Against IFAM & CAI

Alhamdulillah, all assets under Islamic Forum for Australian Muslims (IFAM), Charity Australia International (CAI) and all associated entities – including but not limited to Mosques, Youth Centres and Women Support Centres – are dedicated solely to community benefit and humanitarian efforts. The historical and ongoing contribution of IFAM and CAI to the Australian and Global Muslim Community, since 1994, is acknowledged and appreciated widely by all segments of the society. For details of our activities and efforts serving the local and global communities, one may refer to our websites and social media pages.

We deeply sympathise with all affected families and businesses –including the families of IFAM members and supporters – who lost their investments in the Qartaba Homes liquidation tale. In these difficult times, we stand together with the affected families and our community.

We also like to highlight the fact that the directors of Qartaba Homes have no affiliation with IFAM, CAI and any of its related entities as their basic Membership wasrevoked by IFAM, as of 25th of April 2024, when this matter was brought to the attention by the members of IFAM and of the community.

IFAM and CAI categorically refute and strongly condemn the baseless and misleading allegations of misconduct recently disseminated on social media and other public forums. These false claims have caused undue harm to our organizations, leading to unwarranted distress within our community.

Recent references to IFAM and CAI in a liquidation report concerning Qartaba Homes Pty Ltd have been made without substantiating any evidence. Our legal representatives have formally demanded the liquidator to provide documentary proof justifying these claims. Despite multiple written requests, no verifiable evidence has been provided, raising serious concerns about the accuracy and credibility of the report.

This Public Statement is a FINAL LEGAL NOTICE to the perpetrators responsible for spreading defamatory and false allegations. This notice demands the immediate removal of defamatory content, a formal public retraction and apology, and a cease and-desist order to prevent further misinformation.

Our legal counsel has compiled substantial evidence refuting the defamatory claims made by these individuals. This evidence will be used to initiate legal proceedings, including defamation lawsuits, Supreme Court injunctions, and complaints to regulatory bodies such as ASIC and the ACNC.

These baseless allegations have already resulted in public unrest, protests, and disturbances at various mosques. This misinformation campaign has led to unnecessary division and disruption, despite our unwavering commitment to serve the community.

Defamation laws in Australia prohibit the publication of false statements that harm an individual’s or an organization’s reputation. We will aggressively pursue legal action against any individuals or entities that continue to propagate these defamatory claims.

If defamatory content is not removed and false allegations persist, we will:

File defamation proceedings seeking aggravated damages.
Pursue Supreme Court injunctions preventing further dissemination of misinformation.
Lodge formal complaints with ASIC and the ACNC regarding misconduct.
Engage with social media platforms to seek content removal and potential account suspensions.

We urge community members, supporters, and the public to verify information from credible sources before accepting misleading claims. Misinformation spreads confusion and harm. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that facts, not falsehoods, shape public discourse.

As and if any further information comes to light or to hand, all rights remain unfettered to amend and vary this communication as necessary and at our sole discretion. This reservation of rights shall remain unrestricted throughout this situation.
